Couture Consultations at Anagrassia Atelier

At Anagrassia Atelier, every project begins with a thoughtful and personalized consultation. Whether you are searching for bridal alterations, a custom wedding gown, a First Holy Communion dress, or an heirloom redesign, designer and dressmaker Mary Grace Godfrey works closely with each client to create garments that are elegant, meaningful, and beautifully fitted.

The Anagrassia Atelier is located in Mishawaka, Indiana, near the University of Notre Dame and South Bend area.

What Is Included in the Consultation?

The consultation appointment is approximately 30 minutes and allows clients to discuss their desired project directly with Mary Grace. Consultations may include:

• Wedding gown alterations
• Custom bridal gowns
• Mother of the bride or groom gowns
• Heirloom redesign projects
• First Holy Communion dresses
• Christening gowns
• Couture eveningwear
• Special occasion dresses
• Custom coats and jackets

Many clients bring gowns inherited from mothers or grandmothers to be redesigned into a new wearable piece while preserving sentimental details and craftsmanship.

After the consultation, Mary Grace spends additional time reviewing the project, planning construction methods, considering fabrics and sourcing, and preparing an estimate.

Because every couture garment and alteration project is unique, estimates are subject to change depending on labor, construction complexity, fabric sourcing, and design adjustments throughout the process.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

Clients are encouraged to come prepared with:

• The gown or garment (if applicable)
• Proper undergarments and shoes for fitting
• Inspiration images
• Fabric ideas
• Pinterest boards
• Printed photos or sketches

Preparation helps make the consultation productive and allows Mary Grace to better understand your vision and goals for the project.

Important Pricing Notes

Please note that couture and alteration pricing may increase due to:

• Significant weight changes
• Major design revisions after work begins
• Indecision or repeated changes
• Additional labor requirements
• Expensive or difficult-to-source materials
• Shipping increases or tariffs affecting imported textiles and trims

Every garment is individually handcrafted, and timelines and costs vary depending on the complexity of the work.

Atelier Policies

Because the atelier is a shared commercial workspace with sewing machines, industrial equipment, pressing stations, scissors, and delicate garments throughout the studio, we kindly ask that young children and siblings do not attend fittings or consultations.

Brides may bring one guest to the initial consultation appointment.

For most fittings following the consultation, clients are encouraged to attend alone whenever possible. This allows fittings to remain efficient, keeps alteration costs lower, and helps Mary Grace focus fully on fit and construction details.

A maximum of two guests may attend the final fitting.

During some final fittings, Mary Grace may also take complimentary professional photographs inside the atelier. Clients and guests are encouraged to come prepared for a few snapshots.

Scheduling & Measurements

Saturdays are often the best days for Mary Grace to schedule consultations and fittings, especially when measurements need to be taken.

Mary Grace also finds that measurements are most accurate when clients are well rested and relaxed. Brides are encouraged to come after a restful evening and calm morning whenever possible. Proper posture, comfort, and avoiding rushed or stressful schedules help achieve the most accurate fit and best overall results for couture work and alterations.
