New Dark Loden Italian Cloqué Fabric Coming Soon to the Atelier!

A beautiful new Italian cloqué is coming to the Anagrassia Atelier!
After the original dark green cloqué used for one of my Anagrassia bridesmaid dresses was discontinued, I custom ordered a new fabric from Italy specifically for Anagrassia gowns.
This new cloqué is intended for custom Mother of the Bride dresses, Mother of the Groom gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and other special occasion gowns. Each dress is individually made to the client's measurements and fully lined in silk.
The fabric is a beautiful polyester, silk, and nylon blend with a dimensional woven floral design. I would describe the color as a rich, earthy brown with olive and moss green undertones. It is a complex color that shifts depending on its surroundings. It appears more brown when placed next to greens and more green when placed next to browns. The raised floral design adds even more depth and dimension as the light changes.

(Cell phone photo taken in natural daylight. The color shifts between brown and green depending on the lighting and surroundings.)
It is a sophisticated color that works beautifully with ivory, black, champagne, brown, gold, and other earthy tones. For a Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom who wants something special without looking overly flashy or trendy, this fabric is a beautiful option. The texture provides visual interest while the rich, muted color keeps the overall look classic and understated.

A Custom Dress Made for You
Each Anagrassia cloqué gown is individually made to the client's measurements and fully lined in silk. The original design is a simple, elegant column gown that allows the texture of the Italian cloqué to be the focus. Small design changes can be made to personalize the dress.
Previous variations I have made to this style include:
-
Keyhole backs
-
Darts instead of princess seams
-
Different strap widths
-
Adjustments to the back vent or slit
-
Small neckline and fit changes
Please come to your first appointment prepared with your design ideas. Inspiration photos are welcome. Please think about the changes you would like to make before Mary Grace begins drafting your pattern. Major design changes requested after the mock-up process has begun may increase the final cost of the gown.

3. Muslin Mock-Up |
Mary Grace creates a muslin version of your gown specifically for your body. At the fitting, she checks the bust, waist, darts and seams, ease, skirt length, and slit or vent placement. |
Mary Grace creates a muslin mock-up from your measurements and ships it to you for a test fitting before cutting the Italian cloqué. |
|
4. Final Gown |
Once the pattern is perfected, your final gown is cut from the Italian cloqué and fully lined in silk. You will return for your final gown fitting and finishing adjustments. |
Once the mock-up fit is approved, Mary Grace cuts and constructs your final gown and ships it to you. |
|
5. Final Details |
Bring your event shoes to the mock-up and final fittings so the finished length can be determined accurately. Photos can also be taken at the atelier during your final fitting, if you wish. |
Wear your event shoes, or shoes of the same height, when evaluating the mock-up. Any alterations needed after receiving your finished gown will need to be completed by a qualified local dressmaker. |

What to Wear to Your First Fitting
Your first appointment is when the important design decisions are made. Please come prepared with inspiration photos, notes, or examples of any changes you would like made to the original Anagrassia gown.
For accurate measurements, please wear or bring:
The bra you intend to wear with your finished gown, or your best-fitting bra
Shapewear, if you intend to wear it for the event
A camisole and leggings or other close-fitting, minimal clothing for measurements and fitting
The goal is to establish both the design and fit before Mary Grace begins your custom pattern and muslin mock-up. The mock-up fitting is primarily intended to perfect the fit of your gown rather than dramatically redesign it. Please also bring your event shoes, or shoes with a similar heel height, to your mock-up and final gown fittings.

Mother of the Bride & Mother of the Groom Dresses
Although the original Anagrassia dress was created as a dark green bridesmaid dress, I especially love this new Italian cloqué for Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom gowns.
Finding a Mother of the Groom dress can sometimes be difficult when you want something formal and special but don't necessarily want sequins, heavy beading, or a dress that feels overly trendy. This cloqué offers another option.
The dimensional floral texture makes a simple silhouette interesting, while the deep loden green is rich and understated. The fabric has enough presence for an important member of the wedding party without overwhelming the bride or competing with the bridal gown.
Because the dress is made individually for you, the fit is developed around your measurements rather than simply selecting a standard dress size. The same design can also be ordered for bridesmaids and other formal events.

How to Inquire About a Custom Gown
If you are ready to begin the custom process, please submit an inquiry through the Anagrassia website. Mary Grace will personally follow up with you to discuss your event date, design, fittings, and next steps.
All custom orders now require a signed contract and payment via Zelle.
Because Mary Grace personally handles the patternmaking, sewing, fittings, and client communication at Anagrassia, she is often working in the atelier and away from her inbox for much of the day. Email is the best way to reach Mary Grace. She rarely takes phone calls while working.
If you have not received a response within 3–5 business days, please follow up by email. Follow-ups are always welcome. During particularly busy weeks, an earlier email can move farther down in the inbox than intended.
When inquiring, please include:
-
Your event date
-
Your approximate size
-
Whether you are able to travel to the Anagrassia Atelier for fittings
-
Any initial design ideas or changes you are considering
Custom gowns require time for patternmaking, mock-up construction, fittings, sewing, pressing, and hand finishing, so please inquire well in advance of your event.
Not Ready to Commit? Schedule a Couture Consultation
If you are interested in a custom Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, bridesmaid, or special occasion dress but are not yet ready to place an order, you may schedule a 30-minute couture consultation with Mary Grace at the Anagrassia Atelier.
The consultation gives you an opportunity to discuss the fabric, design possibilities, fit, timeline, and custom dressmaking process before deciding whether you would like to move forward.
Mary Grace's schedule is full, so consultations are limited to 30 minutes. Please arrive on time and come prepared with your questions, inspiration photos, and design ideas.
If you decide during the consultation that you are ready to move forward, Mary Grace can take your measurements at the end of the appointment.
If you arrive prepared to have your measurements taken and decide to begin your custom gown, the consultation fee will be applied toward your custom dress invoice.
Please bring or wear your proper undergarments if you would like measurements taken. The appointment may run slightly beyond 30 minutes if you decide to make your payment, sign your custom-order contract, have your measurements taken, and begin the dressmaking process that day.
